Move over, Applebee’s. TGI Fridays is getting in on the discount drinks game. But rather than focus on a single drink every month as Applebee’s has been doing with their Dollaritas, Dollarmamas and Dollar L.I.T.s, Fridays is applying the discount to a full menu of items.
The chain is offering an all-day happy hour menu called the Fridays Five on which every item costs just $5 each. Drink options include Frozen Blue Hawaiian, Fridays Long Island Tea, Fridays ‘Rita and the Shimmering Diva (a TGI Fridays’ original made with edible glitter, Bacardi Limon, Aperol and house-made sour mix), along with draft beers and wine. There are also $5 snacks like boneless wings, cheeseburger sliders and onion rings.
"Bars and restaurants can make Happy Hour confusing with inconsistent specials, and we don't think it should be one or two hours only. As the inventors of Happy Hour, we wanted to make Happy Hour just that—fun, simple, and on your terms," Stephanie Perdue, Fridays chief marketing officer, said in a press release.
This is not the first time Fridays has treated the world to an all-day happy hour. Last year, the brand offered $5 tiki drinks, $4 drafts and $4 Fireball shots all day on June 23, the longest Friday of 2017. This is the first time the chain has taken it to the next level, though, offering an almost never-ending selection of cheap drinks and snacks.
Yes, everything on the Fridays Five menu costs more than $1, but the wider selection of drinks and addition of bites could win over Applebee’s customers. The new menu is already in full swing at participating restaurants and, don’t worry, it’s not a limited time offering.
