New Tupac Pop-Up Offers Hennessy Wings & Alizé Cake Pops

Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of rapper Tupac Shakur’s death. While many fans will honor his memory by rewatching his hologram perform at Coachella while sipping straight from a bottle of Cristal, one burger joint is celebrating the musician by bringing his dream restaurant to life.

Take 3 Burgers in downtown Fresno, CA is transforming their eatery into Powamekka Café, a pop-up restaurant inspired by the rapper’s sketches and notes detailing his plans to open a “passionate paradise 4 people with power 2 play and parlay.” The pop-up will serve such delicacies as a California Love Chicken Sandwich, Hennessy Apple Butter Wings and Thug Passion Cake Pops, made with Champagne cake and Alizé-flavored frosting. The restaurant’s run will conclude with a showcase of local musicians playing covers of Tupac’s songs.

Powamekka is the result of a partnership between Take 3 Burgers and Fresno Grizzlies marketing director, Sam Hansen. It is not the duo’s first hip-hop inspired endeavor. Hansen and Take 3 worked together on a special breakfast for Notorious B.I.G.’s birthday earlier this year, serving T-bone steaks, cheese eggs and Welch’s grape juice.

While we’re wary of Alizé frosting (and, really, Alizé anything), we admit that we’re intrigued by the Hennessy chicken wings. Sounds like they could make for a solid bar snack, especially paired with a stiff cognac cocktail and “All Eyez on Me” on repeat.
