The Wolverine Drinks Fireball
The Wolverine apparently has a taste for a spirit that “tastes like heaven and burns like hell.” Yes, he drinks Fireball.
In screenings of the recently released Logan, keen moviegoers spotted a bottle of the cinnamon whiskey among the refuse of the mutant’s living quarters in an early scene of the movie. We’d personally never turn down a shot of the cinnamon whiskey (especially if Hugh Jackman was offering it), but some X-Men superfans on the interwebs have pointed out that the low-in-booze, high-in-flavor Fireball might be a bit out of character for the hard-drinking, cigar-smoking traditional man’s man—er, mutant’s mutant.
While we assume most of these comments come from Fireball haters, we have to admit—as big fans of Logan’s austere departure from the usual superhero movie blech—that the brand does somewhat undermine the movie’s timeless Western aesthetic. But, setting aside the obvious product placement argument, Logan apologists on Delish point out that the Fireball bottle may actually fit with the mutant’s backstory—if you turn your head and squint just right. The antihero may have found the half-full bottle in the back of the limo he drives after giving up the mutating hero life. The bottle, left there by one of his horrid clients, certainly wouldn’t turn off Logan, who has never been particular about what he pours into his regenerative body.
When it comes down to it though, Wolverine, one of the last mutants standing and an absolute rage machine, can drink whatever he wants, whether that’s straight whiskey or a bright pink “girly drink.” Any remaining sticklers out there can kindly direct all complaints to the Wolverine and his claws.
