The Strongest Gin in the World Was Just Released

There’s strong Navy Strength gin, and then there’s Strane Uncut gin, the strongest gin in the world. At 76 percent ABV, the gin can make you feel like an astronaut without a helmet after just one sip of the stuff, and right now is one of the rare times you can find a bottle.

Strane is a Swedish craft distillery that produces gin and whiskey. It calls its Uncut strength “the Odin of gins,” and for good reason. It’s basically taken straight from the still and put into bottles without any watering down, giving it “a mighty explosion of power and strength of character” that’s “certainly far from an everyday tipple.”

Most gins clock in around 40 percent ABV, with Navy Strength gins coming in at around 57 percent ABV. The only liquors that can compare to Uncut fall into the dare-you-to-shoot-it category like Everclear and Bacardi 151, which are both 75.5 percent ABV.

Strane promises this extremely overproof liquor won’t just burn your insides though. Distillers guarantee real flavor.

Strane describes the flavor as “clearly very rich in juniper, but also with a heavy contribution from lemon peel, sage and garden mint.” If you give it some time, all of the botanical notes “come through, while the whole still retains balance.”

Needless to say, you definitely shouldn’t drink this neat. If you want to try it at all, you have to wait for the special releases and keep an eye on Master of Malt, which stocks the bottles when it can. Sip safely.
