Now that the drug pushers have retreated, Manhattan's Lower East Side has become synonymous with shops that fuse serious fashion and art-driven culture -- and while you dig clothes, without the cheap crack, it's hardly worth the trip. Feed your wardrobe needs online, at BBlessing's new web store.
The Lower East Side boutique with the adorable stutter, BBlessing's e-shop reflects its brick-and-mortar progenitor, peddling hard-to-find gear alongside proprietor-picked books, movies, and music -- a Target for people who pretend they've never heard of Target. Clothing offerings include BBlessing's own line of hoodies and tees, as well as superbrands like Obedient Sons, Raf by Raf Simons, Opening Ceremony, Rag & Bone, and Surface to Air, the label started by one of BBlessing's founders, who's very into edgy designs, superlative quality, and Stinger Missiles. The culture rotates weekly, with CDs mirroring what's played in the shop, and DVDs and paperbacks reflecting whatever's on the owners' minds (judging from the Oscar Wilde and Evelyn Waugh, last week's theme was sexual confusion).
Right now, everything on the site's at least 40% off, and sometime towards the end of the month, spring lines'll hit the shop -- so your only trip'll be to...the land where glowing, deceitful bugs sing with the voice of your dead grandmother?
