The downside of New York's unbridled creativity is the heinous way many of its citizens dress themselves. Just kidding: it's not a downside, it's completely awesome. Here to chronicle the splendid mess is Ugly Outfits New York. Ugly Outfits is a just-launched blog featuring snapshots of the five boroughs' most perversely unflattering wardrobe choices. Some of the profiles will amuse only sartorialists (e.g., the homespun faux pas of "Who's a Knitter?"), but most will be hilariously repulsive even to those with zero fashion cred. Notably: the Hypercolor vs Freddy Krueger mashup of "Rainbow Sherbet", the excessively functional "Lampshade", and "Greetings from Jones Beach" -- a.k.a. "Old Hung Man". As a newcomer, Ugly hasn't yet achieved archival depth, but you can help: send in your own aesthetically displeasing man/woman/?!?-on-the-street pics, and they'll publish them, complete with your witheringly incisive captions. Consider it an opportunity to unite New York in its appreciation of the Awful -- just keep your fingers crossed that Awful doesn't include a "Dress to in-Vest" entry that looks suspiciously like you.
