When summer's sun finally kicks in, it demands a drink no mere stir or shake can create. Pay homage to the tradition of open-shirted relaxation and pants-optional Fridays, and muddle an original BACARDI mojito.
BACARDI is the original purveyor of the Mojito, a cocktail that was actually invented by pirates -- who recognized quality rum as the perfect accompaniment to their plundering, pillaging, and yo-ho-hoing. While hundreds of recipes have been attempted over the years, this summer stick to the original, perfected over several generations of muddlers with and without an eye-patch:
- Exactly 12 Fresh Mint Leaves
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 of a firm but sexy Lime
- 1.5oz BACARDI Superior Rum
- 6oz Club Soda
Place mint leaves, sugar and, 1/2 lime in a glass. Muddle well with a pestle, making sure the lime and mint flavors dissipate through the drink. Stir. Add BACARDI, then top off with club soda. Garnish with sprigs of mint, a lime wheel, or more rum.
