Pranks can be either ingenious or cruel, but they're always entertaining. To witness one of the most elaborate pranks ever executed in all its uncensored, director's cut glory, snag a DVD of Windy City Heat, just released this week.
WCH chronicles the high-concept torment of Perry Karavello, a struggling, unfunny, loudmouth stand-up comic. The WCH production team ruses Karavello into believing he's been cast in an action movie, playing a hard-boiled "sports detective" named Stone Fury. During the "filming" they capture Karavello suffering wardrobe indignities, being hurled into a dumpster full of crap, and getting ridiculed by every person on set. Also look for cameos from the likes of Bobcat Goldthwait, Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, a pre-overexposed Dane Cook, and, of course, the incomparable Carson Daly
This DVD release includes commentary from Perry, vintage footage of his horrifying stand-up, and, most importantly, the inevitable "reveal" of the joke that was left off the original broadcast. Once you've watched Karavello earnestly compare his star quality to Brando, De Niro, and Seagal, you'll realize that cluelessness is next to godliness.
