Launching in SF this Sunday, Spinlister is a born-in-NY service (started by a Golden Bear and a Trojan) that's sorta like a super-simple Airbnb for bicycles -- it lets you rent out your two-wheeler (for real money), or, if you're so inclined, borrow some other dude's -- so you know Claudius is gonna be all over this (literary reference!!). Here's how it works:
If you want to rent your bike... it's probably because your calves are out-of-control-toned, and it's also super-easy: you just fill out a simple questionnaire w/ pertinent bike deets (type, size, location) and favorite place to ride (Twin Peaks... out-of-control-toned calves, remember?), then once you're approved, you start fielding offers that include duration of the rental (3hrs, 1wk...) and suggested payment ($20/day, two spare axles & all that buffalo meat you couldn't carry back to the wagon...).
If you want to rent someone else's bike... it's probably because yours doesn't have sweet handlebar streamers, but luckily you'll be able to find one that does because they'll let you search by the bike's specs, size, distance to you, and type of renter (person, shop, bit-by-rattlesnake wagon-leader w/ typhoid fever), then submit your request, suggested payment, duration, etc.
For payment, they’ll group all the rental fees into a bi-weekly, via-PayPal check, which you're then free to spend at the local gentlemen’s club, where the girls’ll totally want to Ophelia (even classier literary reference!!).
