Crazy-good Mexican eats light up the Gaslamp

Taco platter at La Puerta

This Sinaloa-inspired, luchador art-bedecked Gaslamp Quarter hangout space is a great place to hang your sombrero after a long day -- or your normal hat if you're, like, not into sombreros. It's got over 100 tequilas, live music, carnitas burritos (with pineapple!), and, befitting a place with its wrestling roots, some hot dogs being headlocked by bacon. Fortunately for those working long hours, it's open until 2a most nights, but those with more tradicional schedules can rejoice in their happy hour from 3-7p, which features half-price drinks like the apple puree/tequila/muddled jalapeno/agave Hot for Teacher. Too many and you'll be hot for, well, pretty much anything.
