Diesel can power all sorts of stuff, from generators, to 18-wheelers, to a little Hollywood sleeper known as The Pacifier. Proving the same-named fashion label can also collab their way into serious furniture, Diesel's Successful Living collection.
Available in Philly for the first time, Living's a product of Diesel's partnerships with the Moroso and Foscarini Italian design houses, and offers living room furniture and lighting tying heavy industrial materials together with the bold, monochromatic bent of contemporary Italian style, and occasionally adding graphics and cues from the underground American music scene, combining Italian and American in ways not seen since Rocky bought that Trans Am. Lighting options from Foscarini include the Graf Floor Lamp, a polished black angular tripod whose shade rocks B&W analog mixer-board graphics, the Cage Mike Table, a white glass lamp wrapped in a white metal cage resembling an old-school mic, and the Glas Large Hanging Chrome, a monster pendulum dangling from a chain with three chrome tiers -- resembling the Silver Surfer's wedding cake, before his mom discovered she was chrome, and kiboshed the whole thing. Furniture from Moroso includes the XRadio 2 Disc coffee table, with steel legs and an x-ray of two turntables sealed into laminated glass, and the Overdyed Side and Lounge chairs, with black steel bases supporting wooden seats/backs that've been stained and then wiped off in a process known as ragging, known for its streaked appearance and inability to have a rational discussion for a couple days a month.
The collection also includes some items not available locally but up for order, like the Nebula sofa and Cloudscape armchair (white upholstered jawns that're extra cushiony), and the Flightcase 2-/3-door storage units -- but be sure to pick one up now, as if they go 2 Fast, you 2'll Furious.
