Growing up, no one — well, hopefully no one chowed down on Lunchables without first washing the Nickelodeon Gak off their hands. Thrusting perishable food into a green viscous gel goo just didn't do much to whet the appetite. But there’s a chance that’s all going to change. We have seen the future of kitchen appliances. Its name is Bio Robot Refrigerator. Designed for Electrolux, the giant mass of flubber shows off some pretty bonkers gel-based technology. Russian designer Yuriy Dmitriev explains that when placed in the newfangled fridge, foodstuffs are surrounded by a bubble due to strong surface tension. To chill the contents, bio robots absorb all heat from the gel and emit it through the process of luminescence. And though it looks like the remains of Slimer from Ghostbusters, the gel is actually odorless and non-sticky.
