The nine best cars you can buy this weekend

1967 Toyota 2000GT
RM Auctions

The private stash of cars at the Don Davis collection has something for everyone from refined European collectors to coked-out Don Johnson impersonators. This weekend, it's for sale; 64 of the most ridiculously sweet cars in the world are going to the auction block without reserve, and we've picked the nine you've definitely gotta see

1991 Ferrari Testarossa

The Testarossa's probably the most iconic car from an age when greed was good and people got hopped up on powdered substances that weren't Pixie Stix, and anyone that was actually only on the Stix probably remembers the white one from Miami Vice; this one's decked out with the exact same options, so it's about as close as you'll get to the vice cops unless you go on a crime spree. '63 Split-Window Stingray

One of the most iconic Corvettes ever, '63's split rear window was controversial at the time, even though models weren't yet skinny enough to be totally blocked in your mirror. Don's car's had a comprehensive restoration, and it's original features like fuel injection make it a fairly rare version of a fairly rare car. Read more here, and look at gratuitous classic 'Vette pics

1955 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing

This is a car so compelling even vintage mechanics can't resist playing with it. The Gullwing is one of the holy grails of the Mercedes universe; it was expensive back in the day and probably a seven-figure car now, and is important enough that the original manufacturer of the gauges actually setup a silkscreen to recreate them for this car's restoration. See more of it, right here

1967 Toyota 2000GT

Back in its day, the Toyota 2000GT was an impressive-enough car that it was James Bond's car of choice in You Only Live Twice; they only built 351 of these cars, and most of those stayed in Japan, so this one being left hand drive makes it about as unique as Sean Connery pretending he's Japanese. You've gotta check out that interior, too

1988 Porsche 959

The 959 was Porsche's answer to Ferrari's F40, and definitely fought alongside the F40 for precious poster space on whatever wall Kathy Ireland's bikini-clad boobs weren't. It was an all-wheel-drive beast capable of hitting 60mph in 3.6sec and nearly 200mph on the top end, while being tough enough to win the Paris-Dakar rally, arguably the toughest challenge for trucks in the world, let alone a road-going supercar. They're pretty rare; check this one out

1965 Lamborghini 350 GT

To make this car, the folks at Lambo took a 280hp V12 and mated it with a body designed by the same Italian firm that built the Aston Martin DB5 and this Alfa Romeo-based Disco Volante. This particular one used to be owned by the chairman of Aston Martin, and has appeared on Top Gear, where it was so well loved, they didn't blow it up. Check out how many switches it's got inside

1969 Mustang Boss 429

Boss Mustangs were the epitome of badassery, and the '69 429 is generally held up as the most muscle car-y of all Mustangs; this one's the lowest-mileage Boss 429 in the world, with only 97 original miles, so it's essentially a virgin piece of machinery; something you hopefully can't say about anything else that's 44 years old. This thing really is beyond pristine

1941 Chrysler Newport Indianapolis 500 Pacemaker

This car is one of just a handful made to demonstrate that Chrysler's design was well-suited to a post-depression-era country; while it was never mass-produced, this specific car served as the 1941 Indy 500 pace car, and then became Walter Chrysler's personal car, because, y'know, perks. Why yes, that is an entirely different compartment for passengers in back

1967 Ferrari 330 GTS

Back when famed design house Pininfarina built the bodies for all 99 330 GTS-es that Ferrari made, the car could do 150mph, but even more impressive is that this one's been so painstakingly restored that it won the legendary Concorso Italiano in 2011, making it one of the most perfect Italian bodies that Silvio Berlusconi never touched. It's just so shiny
