Fashion's so ignored in South Philly that the term "South Philly style" refers to techniques used to make cheesesteaks or gravy, instead of the Zubaz they'll later stain. Looking to change all that, Metro. Yet another contribution to the recent renaissance of the East Passyunk corridor, Metro's a boutique hawking a range of dude duds from recognizable national lines and some local up-and-comers in a storefront with black leather lounge chairs against muted green and exposed brick walls sporting racks bursting with dress shirts, tees and jeans, like the ones worn by the display window mannequin currently rocking a Phillies cap despite having no head -- so, he's fairly typical. Torso sheaths abound, like tees from Philly-based Premium Blend's new line (like a number emblazoned with the chemical compound for caffeine, and another featuring a lion's-head design), graphic'd hand-sewn wovens from English Laundry and Dorsia, and more subdued styles like Ben Sherman's latest line of buttondowns in a range of plaids and vertical stripes, which you claim lend a slimming effect, even if you special-order them in Hot Air Balloon. They're also carrying a bevy of winter coats from Report Collection and that Ben Sherman guy again, whose label's also on several styles of jeans and sweaters displayed on a front table alongside Original Penguin, who's still mad Danny DeVito stole his act

Accessories also play a big role in Metro's stock, from belts and wallets by Bill Adler, to knits and military caps from Coal Headwear, to watches from TOKYObay and Android, which thanks to Metro, South Philadelphians won't be able to assume you are when they see you wearing those futuristic jeans.
