‘Tis the Spritzer

Cranberry sauce might have a supporting role during Thanksgiving dinner, but it’s the star of this Champagne spritzer from Cody Goldstein, founder of cocktail consulting firm Muddling Memories. The drink combines sweet-tart cranberry sauce with rich reposado tequila, vibrant blood orange and lightly bitter Aperol for a simple sparkling cocktail you can easily throw together right at the dinner table.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz Reposado Tequila
  • 1 oz Blood orange juice
  • .5 oz cranberry sauce
  • .5 oz Aperol
  • Splash of water (optional)
  • Champagne, to top
  • Cranberries, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Step one

If your cranberry sauce is extra thick, add a splash of water to dilute it slightly.

Step two

Add all the ingredients to a shaking tin and fill with a handful of ice.

Step three

Shake for five seconds and strain into a Collins glass.

Step four

Top with Champagne and garnish with a few cranberries.
