Dry Martini

dry martini with olives
Matthew Kelly/Supercall

If all you want to taste in your Martini is juniper-heavy gin or crisp, slatey vodka, then you want a Dry Martini. Made with just a whisper of dry vermouth, this is a purist’s drink. It’s about as close as you can get to drinking a spirit straight while still being able to call it a cocktail.

Dry Martini

  • 2.75 oz Gin
  • .25 oz Vermouth
  • Lemon Twist or Olive, For Garnish

Step one

Stir gin and dry vermouth in a mixing glass with ice until very cold.

Step two

Using a julep strainer, strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Step three

Garnish with a lemon twist or olive.
