Frozen Watermelon Margarita

If your only experience with fruity, Frozen Margarita variations is on chain restaurant drink menus, you have been missing out on something truly wonderful. Made properly, with real fruit and fresh juices, these spiked slushies showcase the very best of warm weather drinking. Just one sip of a truly well-made Frozen Margarita can transport you to your happy place, whether that is a pristine white sand beach, an all-inclusive resort or your favorite al fresco happy hour.
This variation uses juicy watermelon at the height of the season to produce a drink so refreshing you may not even notice that it has more alcohol (two and a half ounces) than our traditional Margarita. Besides that though, it is a classic Margarita through and through, which means that it uses lime juice and agave syrup—no sour mix or other additions to muddy it up.
This recipe produces one Margarita, but if you’re in party planning mode, it’s easy to scale the measurements up and make enough to fill a watermelon keg. The fruit you scoop out when you’re making the keg will produce more than enough watermelon for the drinks and the presentation is guaranteed winner. You should even have leftovers to use in a Watermelon Mojito or Sangria.
