Garden of Love

Flame of Love Vodka Drink | Cocktail Recipe | Smirnoff No. 21 | Supercall

The Flame of Love was the creation of a California bartender from the 1970s. He made it for one of his regulars, who also happened to be a member of Hollywood’s Rat Pack. Essentially a Martini built with Fino sherry, vodka, and a flamed orange twist, the Flame of Love was a crowd-pleaser. This version deploys celery bitters, water, and superfine sugar to create a full-bodied drink of complex character. It’s crisp, semi-sweet, and completely intriguing. For the ultimate classic touch, and a note of carmelized flavor, flame the grapefruit twist.
