Romance just isn’t the same as it used to be. These days it’s all too likely you’ll unwittingly swipe left on your soulmate. Eggplant emojis are the modern equivalents of a love letter. And you’re much more likely to “Netflix and chill” than actually go out on a real date. But there are still plenty of ways to make your Valentine’s Day extra special. Case in point: This cocktail from New York City bartender Pamela Wiznitzer.

Wiznitzer starts with a not-too-boozy base of chocolate liqueur (to help release dopamine, which activates the brain’s pleasure center) and pomegranate liqueur (which helps with blood flow, because, well, you know), then adds honey (a hormone regulator to keep your mood in check), strawberry purée (the fruit was once a symbol for Venus, the Roman goddess of love) and lemon juice to balance things out. Finally, the drink is topped with sparkling wine (because it’s just plain sexy) and four drops of olive oil. The result is a stunningly delicious, ultra silky and remarkably stimulating drink. The next time you’re feeling romantic, skip the “u up?” text and make this libido-stimulating cocktail. Though we can’t promise it will steer your night toward endless romance, we can guarantee a darn good drink.
