• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ⅓ cup BACARDÍ 8 Años Rum
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 brûléed lemon slices, for garnish
  • Cranberries, for garnish
  • 2 star anise, for garnish


  • In a small pitcher, stir brown sugar, hot water, lemon slices, orange slices, lemon juice and orange juice until brown sugar dissolves.
  • On a baking sheet place four lemon slices, sprinkle with brown sugar and, using a kitchen torch, brown the fruit until sugar has crystallized.
  • Stir in BACARDÍ 8 Años Rum to the small pitcher once it was fully dissolved. Divide the contents of the pitcher into two mugs.
  • Garnish each mug with a brûléed lemon wedge, cranberries, cinnamon stick, and a star anise.
