Stone Fence

An American cocktail from before cocktails were even a thing, the Stone Fence is a simple mix of the two things early colonists had spades: rum and apple cider. Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys were known to throw back a Stone Fence or five before fighting the Redcoats. While some modern renditions of the drink swap out rum for whiskey, we recommend trying the original rum version first. It’s darker, richer and delicious all-year round. We took the liberty here of adding a dash of Angostura to the basic mix for a touch of spice and depth, but feel free to leave it out if you want to experience this old-school American classic in its unadulterated form.
