This Gaelic cousin of the classic Hot Toddy swaps out standard whiskey for scotch to envelop its drinker in a smoky embrace. Demerara sugar replaces the usual honey, and a single strip of a lemon peel is substituted for lemon juice. The result is a comforting libation that’ll warm you from the inside out.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tsp demerara sugar
  • lemon peel
  • 2 oz scotch
  • Boiling Water

INSTRUCTIONS

Step one

Add the sugar and lemon peel to a mug. Gently muddle the two ingredients to release the lemon’s essential oils.

Step two

Add the scotch and top with boiling water.
