Thanks to drinking luges and belly buttons, there're now tons of great ways to take shots, thankfully none of which involve Rockets forward Chuck Hayes. Making sure you'll always have at least one of those at your finger tips, a bottle of VÄD Vodka. Distilled in a custom-built German copper still tucked inside a Petaluma warehouse, VÄD is the ultra-premium side project of a full-time Monster.com-er in Russian Hill -- a quintuple-distilled totally-hand-made small batch vodka that's capped with the industry's first-ever bottle top that's also an all-in-one shot glass/storage area/jigger...what? Jigger who? Made with 100% pure American winter wheat (just like Goose), VÄD comes in three variants: the unadulterated, cleverly named "Vodka", the vitamin-enhanced, hangover-helping "Thrive" (one of only two vitamin-added vodkas in the world), and the caffeine/ginseng-infused "Synergy", which holds the equivalent of 1/3 of an energy drink in every 1.5oz shot, unlike a Four Loko, which will kill you. The bottle top is actually double-sided: the bottle mouth-facing screw side features a hollow interior for shots or measuring 1oz/1.5oz pours for cocktails (there're lines for both), while the other side actually has a faux top you can pop to reveal a tiny storage compartment that stores sugar/salt for glass rimming or a handful of lime slices, or Verne Troyer if he's got nowhere else to crash. The first 1,800 bottles hit San Francisco and Sacramento this week, including behind the bar at Sugar Lounge and The Cellar, and in-store at The Jug Shop in Nob Hill, where they'll also soon be shipping online to all but five states, almost all of which've deemed Chuck's free throws illegal sexual acts.
