How Hollywood's Hottest Sex Scenes Are Made
I don’t know about you, but there is nothing I love more than a really great sex scene in a movie. Gimme some popcorn and an orgasm and I’m all about it.
Like every other '90s girl, the famous Jack and Rose scene from Titanic was the source of my sexual awakening. I have no clue why my parents thought 7-year-old me was old enough for that movie, but whatever.
ANYWAY, in case you were wondering how famous, lusty scenes like that are actually made, this new video from Film Theories has got all the deets. The video explores scopophilia, the study of sex and cinema, to explain how sex scenes are realized on the big screen.
The term is derived from a Greek term that means, “to derive pleasure from watching.” Sounds a lot like an Andy Warhol MO, don’t you think?
Watch the video below for a full, comprehensive look at how you make a Hollywood sex scene. It’s clearly not as sexy as one might imagine.
In case you weren’t aware, no one is actually doing it in any of those sex scenes. It’s all the great art of acting... as well as an incredible amount of effort from the film crew.
The bite-sized video is a super fun watch and, as Maxim points out, provides an interesting look at the psychology of sex on film.
I personally enjoy a little mystery with my erotica, but c'est la vie. Enjoy!
