Athletes have always invested in non-sports businesses: there's Zaza with Buckhead Bottle Bar, Hammerin' Hank's BMW lot, and Nate Newton, who probably should have started a weight-loss program considering his penchant for moving pounds. See how an NFL player is upping the ante on the tattoo business, this Friday at the grand opening of Inkaholiks.
From a partnership that includes everyone’s favorite Jaguars offensive guard Uche Nwaneri comes Inkaholiks, a "luxury" tattoo parlor complete with a connected salon for getting your dome shaped up, plus an upscale lounge in between with a leather-seated VIP area, a DJ booth, and windows that let you watch others get inked near a huge mural of two sexy (topless!) ladies and a green tiger-dragon, which Nate Newton stopped reading after “green”. Starting Tues, their world-class tatters (some from local spots, some from overseas, and some who shut down their own shops just to work for Ink) will charge around $200 an hour to put another Thrashers symbol on your inner thigh; also be there for "Tat Tuesdays" (get it?), where they'll hook up discounted body art and drinks as long as you already have a tat (go Thrashers!). The salon opens on the 15th, and will offer regular haircuts to walk-ins or appointment-makers (they prefer the latter), and while they'll have special-event-pouring licenses, the full bar actually opens in December with domestic bottles, wine, plus ‘too-themed cocktails like "The Dirty Needle", which you can ask them to pour neat, but then you'd be totally missing the point.
Be there at the grand opening Fri and hear tunes provided by Playboy model/DJ Alie Layus, and bid in a live auction to get a small tattoo from Dave Navarro, who'll also be spinning for an hour, exactly what Nate would say is what gave weed-heads an Addiction to his Jane.
