Garage sales rarely yield anything better than old ashtrays, crappy books, and gently used garages. For a treasure trove of stuff you'll actually want, hit Le Garage Sale.
This two-day discount-athon sees 50 indie boutiques and brands descending on the Palmer Events Center with an everything-must-go attitude, which just like an everything-must-Go attitude, doesn't involve a naked Katie Holmes. To help wade through the fire-sale madness, here's a rundown of what some top vendors are unloading:
Service Menswear: The SoCo concern wants you to raid a cache consisting of button-downs from Gant, bags from Jack Spade, and jackets from Gilbert & Lewis, who now that they're being sold in Texas can finally say "We've got Bush".
Duo: The 2nd St newcomer's laying out its in-house line of plaids, vintage tees adorned with geometric patterns, and dark rustic washed denim in European cuts, fashionably covering that which Europeans leave uncut.
Mellow Johnny's: Armstrong's biking outlet's hawking pieces like Martin casualwear and Merino wool sweaters & bomber jackets from Ralpha, plus outerwear from Aether including rain jackets and puffy Patagonia-like "space hoodies", a must-have for those galaxy-roaming slackers of the future, shipsters.
By George: Venerable Lamar high-enders BG are clearing out denim and jackets from Levi's, a slew of Steven Alan's latest, outerwear from Golden Goose, and long-sleevers from This is Not a Polo, an assertion to which Ralph Lauren will respond, "This is Not a Trademark Infringement Suit".
RVCA: The classy streetwear purveyors RVCA will unveil items from its upcoming summer line, plus standbys including hoodies, collared sweaters, and the striped "You're Welcome Tank", for when Johnson thanks you for handing him his rifle sleeves.
Nixon: The SoCal accessorizer will be in full force with watches, headphones, wallets, and floppy winter hats, hiding ears that'll be burning from people ragging you for wearing winter hats in 58 degree temperatures.
In case you have eyes for someone other than yourself, LGS will also purvey an insane selection of girlfriend-pleasers from Blackbird, Emeralds, and Girl Next Door -- buy a DVD of that at a regular garage sale, then sit back and watch a woman who, thanks to Sean Avery, was not used gently.
