This wood is good

Creating something badass that also helps save the world is no easy feat, but that doesn't mean you should give up hope on recyclable pizza-lasers. For a sunglass company actually pulling it off (not the pizza lasers...yet!), check out Capital Sunglasses.

From three dudes, including an Orlando native, who somehow knew enough about the wood sunglass market to be unimpressed with the current offerings of the wood sunglass market, Capital's shades flash a vintage look and're made from American hardwood in an attempt to save the rainforests, because last time they checked, FernGully was the only one left. Frames are handmade from auburn, natural, or ebonized cherry wood (which're all nice and water-resistant) before in-house craftsmen add Cap's go-to polarized Zeiss lenses and stainless steel spring hinges, despite the risk of them going out of season now that it's summer. Movie character-inspired looks range from their trademark square-aviator Bonnie / Clyde, to the Ellie (whose curvy shape reminded the trio of their slight obsession with Laura Dern's doctor in Jurassic Park), to the rounded Ferris Bueller-homaging Cameron, which should never be worn Indoor. Because Duke is for people not nearly cool enough to wear wood sunglasses.

The threesome's currently teaming up with wholesalers to get them into stores, but for now these guys are only available on the Internets, which also produced something badass, better known as CakeFarts.com.
