Funny graphic shirts can be tough for adults to pull off, what with their bulbous, fully formed heads. Kidz rule! Making graphic shirts fit -- at least in terms of subject matter -- for grown-ups: Hollyhoodz.
Hawking separate-but-equally-wearable collections of pro-MN clothestuffs and sweatshirts adorned with life-sized celebrity portraits on the hoods, silly-but-not-for-kids Hollyhoodz is run by a local dude who sees screenprinting as a way to get “hood rich”, which's a lot of work to go through for a rather pedestrian Big Tymers album, but whatever. Said celeb-hoodies feature black-and-white likenesses on each side of the head-sheath, including a grinning Charlie Sheen and Caddyshack-era Bill Murray, plus just-dropped joints like rapper Wiz Khalifa in a Twins hat, and Minneapolis's own, Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern, whose shirt debuted 7/20, exactly three months after the anniversary of when his show must've been conceived. For those more interested in civic pride than rapping a Wiz Khalifa song while wearing his face, there's a shirt with Minny and Paul shaking hands across the river below a knock-off Twins logo, one that flips “The Twin Cities” into The North Face emblem, and a mega-wordy joint that labels MSP (among other things) the “land of cold air & purple rain”, aka what Wiz Khalifa makes it do in the club when he hasn't yet exchanged his bills after a trip to Europe. Deep-cut currency joke!
Because you're basically a celebrity too, they'll also make you a custom hoodie emblazoned with your face as long as you order 12 or over, which is also the age at which snooty young adults start getting big heads. To the arcade!
