There's nothing wrong with doing good on the way to looking awesome, like buying TOMS shoes, then giving them to your friend while posting up right next to him at the bar in way-sweeter Skechers Shape Ups. Continue to look and feel even better than Kim Kardashian, with Waveborn.
Just started by a shady District do-gooder, Waveborn hawks its sleek, moderately-priced sunglasses with the promise to send a free pair of prescription eyewear to those in need with each purchase, an idea inspired by the founder's time executive-producing the Do Something Awards on VH1, where apparently "something" is recycling Flavor of Love characters into as many spin-offs as is profitable. The Italian-made shades themselves look like slightly sportier versions of Ray-Ban's classic Wayfarer design, and come in Clear Gray with darker gray lenses, Dark Tortoise with amber, and Pacific Blue with purple, all of which also rock the WB logo on the side, which they've taken care to ensure looks nothing like the other WB logo, as that frog would straight merc them. On the charity side, they've partnered with Unite For Sight (who work with local eye clinics in areas like Ghana, India, and Honduras), and, via their traveling "Global Impact Fellows", they'll facilitate the distribution of the prescription spectacles as needed -- though, does anyone really need to see cowboy hat-wearing monkeys riding golden labs?
Because the altruistic fashion world never sleeps, Waveborn will soon be releasing new styles (and super-soon: black shades), and they're also looking to set up a network of brand ambassadors based (mostly) at college campuses nationwide... so be sure to sign up your roommate.
