Work Out with Electric Shocks Instead of Weights

Well it's finally happened, people. We've seen fitness slowly drift into the digital realm with fitness trackers and monitors, but the day that you can shock your muscles with electricity instead of hitting the gym has finally arrived — thanks to a device called SmartMio.

Just like in your imagination, you attach electrodes to whatever muscle group you're trying to target and SmartMio will shock them into contracting, apparently giving you a workout using a process known as electrical muscle stimulation. It's completely controlled with an app using your phone's Bluetooth, and you can use more than one SmartMio at once.

If this actually works, it'd be a pretty big deal, allowing people to work out while at work, though the Bluetooth-enabled electrodes can only target one muscle group at a time.

These devices were probably standard issue at GloboGym.
