These Guys Just Invented A Device That Extinguishes Fire With Sound
Engineers have long been experimenting with using sound waves to squash flames, but the technology involved is so bulky and expensive that everyday application has thus far been out of the question. However, a pair of intrepid grad students at George Mason University recently went ahead and devised an affordable handheld speaker that blasts away flames by emitting low-frequency waves. If things go according to their plan, we may all soon have one in our kitchen.
