Pick any Audi A4 you want to rent, as long as it's silver

Because the rental car biz has evolved about as much as Andrew Dice Clay over the years, a group of ATX-based investors came up with Silvercar, a totally app-based rental firm launching in Dallas where, instead of a Ford Fairlane, every car's a silver Audi A4. How it works

Those still rocking a sweet flip-phone will make their reservations online, then hit the iPad-enabled kiosks to check in, then ask a concierge for help when they invariably become baffled by touchscreen technology

But for everyone else, their app allows you to eschew desks and human contact

Pick any car you want, which shouldn't take long since literally every one of their 200 rides is the same: an Audi A4 2.0t Quattro

Use the app to scan the QR code on the windshield, and your phone will connect to their server, verify your information, and their proprietary Silverpod will unlock the car via bluetooth

So you can climb in -- the keys are in the cupholder, so grab them before you set down that Big Gulp -- The app can even help you sync your phone to the car, which also has Sirius Radio and free roaming WiFi..

When you're all done, simply come back and park the car. The system'll know you're returning it, check how much fuel you used, charge the going rate according to GasBuddy.com, and send you a receipt before you've even left the building -- just leave the key in the car, or you'll probably be Banned For Life.
