Jilted Guy Auctions Off Ex-Fiancée's Honeymoon Spot on eBay

Remember that guy who found a woman with the same name as his ex-girlfriend to replace her on a round-the-world trip? Well, another jilted guy is following his lead, except this time, he's putting his honeymoon up for bid on eBay.

After his fiancée ditched him over Christmas, John Whitbread found out he could only get one of the tickets he'd booked to the Dominican Republic refunded. Well, rather than eating the money and swallowing his misery, the 32-year-old Brit got Internet-creative and put the vacant spot up for auction. The winning bidder will spend two weeks in an all-inclusive, four-star resort that Whitbread paid more than $3,000 for. And if the bid exceeds $1,599 (the cost of a ticket and name change), the newly single man has said he’ll donate any remaining funds to testicular cancer research... because being dumped after already buying the honeymoon is like being punched in the testicles?

According to Whitbread's eBay post, he's "just looking for a new friend who fancies a holiday with someone fun." He also wants to assure people that he's cool, too.

"I’m not boring, I’m adventurous otherwise I wouldn’t be doing something as ridiculous as this... I smoke, I drink and damm have I got some sharp moves on that dance floor! I’ve got no criminal record but sometimes I should be locked up for my snoring," he wrote.

Which, OK. But perhaps the snoring explains why the guy's ex-fiancée ended things in the first place.

The bid was at $1,725 on Monday afternoon, with nine days left before bidding closes. The pair will travel to Playa Dorado on Feb. 16, returning on March 3.
