Finally taking the "extreme" obstacle course trend to the next level, GORUCK NASTY's a weekend-long festival at Massenutten Resort, VA loaded with camping, tailgating, "crushing $1 beers", and a 6+ mile, 20+ obstacle course modeled by Green Berets after the exact one they had to pass. So yeah, go ruck yourself! Gear Camping equipment, "your cornhole A-game", and a weekend's worth of clothes that follow the first rule: "Always Look Cool and you’ll be just fine". Day 1 You'll pick up your Nasty packet, check out the course map, hang with the Cadre (US Special Forces Bros), play a little cornhole, and slam $1 Beers. "Lots of them." Day 2 Wake up for your wave time and head over to the course. Nasty Nick is the only obstacle course that all Green Berets must pass during their selection process, and this one's just like it. Here's a video segment of the actual course named after Colonel James “Nick” Rowe, a Green Beret who literally wrote the book on Special Forces. He's probably not that nasty, though. The Course You'll encounter over 20+ obstacles like this log walk, where balance is key. That means $1 beers should only be consumed after. Get down and dirty crawling on your elbows and knees through mud under barbed wire. Let's hope you too can make the jump to the rope swing. One of the larger obstacles on the route, be sure to take your time on this Indiana Jones like rope ladder. It's 6+ miles, so if you want to catch your breath and hangout for a minute, no one will judge you. Except for everyone. After finishing you'll earn the never-to-be-sold Nasty Patch. "From any angle, it’s sexy as hell". After completing the course, it's time for a big ole party, so head to the outdoor showers real quick, then back for music, cheap food, and... ... more $1 beers! Just "don’t pretend it’s the first time you’ve had to bring a stack of $1 bills somewhere".
