This drone selfie is way better than your duck face

While they might not be able to fend off hawk attacks (yet!), quadcopter drones do have something else going for them: namely, the ability to shoot brilliant HD selfies that would've been impossible even as little as five years ago. Case in point: the proceeding next-level video (zing!) shot at Lone Rock Point in Burlington, VT by Matt Benedetto.

Set to a Phillip Glass-style musical score, this 40-second clip shows the drone hovering at eye-level with Benedetto before soaring high above Lake Champlain.

According to the itemized Amazon shopping list on his Youtube page, Benedetto's drone setup (a DJI Phantom 2 and a GoPro Hero 3+) cost upwards of $1,000; fortunately, the skies in Burlington were devoid of hawks at the time.

Gianni Jaccoma is an editorial assistant for Thrillist Travel, and he’d really, really love for someone to send him one of these drones already. Follow him into the air on Twitter @gjaccoma.
