These days, anybody traveling with a smartphone turns into an annoying oversharer, snapping a boatload of Instagrams that hardly feature the location and simply prove that person's not in an office (see: hot dog legs and posing with animals).
But Colorado-based illustrator Rachel Ryle thought up an original way to record her recent trip to Europe. Instead of just taking photos, Ryle drew her way through the continent, designing beautiful postcards for each destination and posting them to her Instagram account. They beat the hell out of selfies with monuments (and other tourists) in the background, that's for sure.
