It may not be the Empire striking back, but it is Mother Nature. Anakin Skywalker's fictional hometown of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine in Star Wars is slowly being buried in sand. Or, at least, the real-life Tunisian movie set is.
Which is why the Tunisian tourism ministry is using the force and/or crowdfunding site Indiegogo to raise cash to protect the site. While the first sand removal phase started last month, they've only raised $4,100 of the $45k needed to conserve and promote the area. Meaning that you, like Obi Wan, are their only hope.
Donations come with fun titles like Padawan, Jedi, and Master Jedi (who also get their name engraved on a commemorative panel near the site) and can be made right here.
