Joining the growing ranks of airlines adding local craft suds to their lineup of in-flight booze, Delta announced it'll be stocking ice cold cans of SweetWater 420 Extra Pale Ale on flights starting April 1st. Southwest currently pours Fat Tire Amber Ale, while Alaska Air recently unveiled Fairbank's Silver Gulch Brewing & Bottling Co.'s Old 55 Pale Ale on board.
Atlanta-based Delta had already kinda-sorta stepped outside the beer box by serving Blue Moon at altitude, but adding locally brewed SweetWater takes it to the next level. The beer, which only recently became available in cans (and thus allows the airline to circumvent glass bottle flight restrictions) will initially be served only on Delta's 34 flights between Atlanta Hartsfield and New York's LaGuardia Airport.
