While residents in Illinois and Connecticut can't wait to get the hell out of their respective states, turns out the good folks of Buffalo are some of the luckiest in the country. Their city is so amazing, there's no reason to leave. Ever. Unless you're Stevie Johnson. Or Marshawn Lynch. Or the Bills, to play in Toronto.
But yes, according to a recent study of 100 towns by finance-focused (and in no way football-related) social network, WalletHub, Buffalo, NY is the best city in the U.S. for a staycation. Even if it's not 2008.
Based on criteria that includes the number of swimming pools, golf courses, tennis courts, and spas, as well as zoos, aquariums, and museums, Buffalo topped a handful of other totally under-appreciated, small-market cities like Minneapolis, Cincinnati (also home to the most golf courses in the country), and Pittsburgh. Not to mention, Omaha (!!).
And it flat out pummeled bigger towns like New York, NY (no. 79) and Houston, TX (no. 92), although not sure we needed a study to tell us those two spots were cesspools in July.
Absolute worst place to stay put this Summer? Chula Vista, CA. We'll let you scroll over the map below to find out why. And to see where your city falls on the list before you skip town on that big Hershey Park getaway. Or, to read the full results of the study, click here.
