The Godfather may have passed away, but his love for Tetiaroa -- the private atoll off Tahiti he once called home -- will live on in the form of a swanky new resort. Opening in July on the site of the actor's former compound, The Brando will house 35 villas, two (six-star) restaurants, and a full spa.
Brando discovered Tetiaroa (historically, a favorite getaway for Tahitian royals) while filming Mutiny on the Bounty, and always aspired to turn the island into an eco paradise; a green vision the new hotel is trying to stick to by installing seawater-fueled air conditioning and using solar power and coconut oil for energy. The resort's eco-friendly focus won't inhibit its luxury, though, as each villa will have a private pool, its own section of the beach, and spectacular lagoon views.
Rates start at just over $2,400/nt for a one-bedroom villa ($7,420 for a three-bed) and -- after admiring the stunning shots of the property below -- you can book your stay early, right here.
