This mermaid wants to officiate your underwater wedding

The thought of spending your entire life with the same person can be terrifying enough, but what about getting hitched at the bottom of a swimming pool… in Floridasportingtails? For the classy pair who wants their wedding to make a splash, The Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort now offers a new “Mermaid Wedding Package”.

Outfitted in a customized tux and gown, couples are trained by the hotel’s very own Marina the Mermaid on "correct aquatic technique" (or, holding their breath), before getting tossed in the deep end of the pool to exchange their vows. Meanwhile, guests enjoy the entire ceremony through a window from the dry comforts of the Wreck Bar.

Rings and first kisses (as a married couple) are exchanged underwater before the couple engages in the customary (and previously choreographed) first dance -- assuming they're not yet blue in the face. The 10min affair is followed by a 30min sopping-wet-but-totally-more-legal ceremony on land, followed by a nautical-themed reception and champagne toast at the bar.

The package includes mermaid tails, a photo shoot, and a reception for $95 a person, with a minimum of 30 guests. Oh, and if additional lessons with Marina are required, that's extra. Book your merman adventure here.
