Here’s a travel innovation absolutely no one needed.
As of April 1, Austrian budget airline FlyNiki will begin operating what it claims will be the world's shortest commercial flight between Vienna, Austria and Bratislava, Slovakia -- a journey that spans a whopping 30 miles and takes a mere 10 minutes.
Yep. Instead of just driving the excruciating (that's a joke, folks) 56 minutes, or taking a train or bus, people will soon have the option of driving to the airport, which, in Bratislava, is 15 minutes from the city center, going through check-in, security, and boarding a plane. Because... hell, Kim Kardashian is still famous. We don't need reasons anymore.
A flight ticket will likely cost more than the gas to drive between the cities, and obviously won't save time. The airline says the totally unnecessary trip will interest passengers on connecting flights from Vienna.
So there. Now you have a reason for being on a plane for 10 minutes.
