New Yorkers can be fickle creatures -- tirelessly in love with their city, but equally dismayed by it. New York is too hot, too cold, too crowded, too dirty -- but that being said, it is incontestably the greatest city on Earth. So, in between voicing our complaints about New York summers (and simultaneously daydreaming about them), we have compiled a comprehensive list of spectacular day trip destinations, all of which are not too far (but just far enough) from the city.
