Uncovering creative weekend fun can be a chore...wait, that's it! Swiffering Saturdays! Actually, never do that, and just use the Weekend Map.
Just dropped in Philly, TWM's a city-spanning events calendar that visually plots out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday events on a custom map, then codes them by popularity-indicating markers -- not to be confused with popularity-influencing markers, like the sweet-smelling, friend-making Mr. Sketch. Events're harvested everywhere from Eventbrite to concert-lister Songkick to turn up unique and niche fun like a food tour that's only hitting Asian spots, or security training that'll school you in the ways of expandable batons (for serious), and there's even a section that'll get you out and volunteering your time for good causes...hahaha, volunteering, that's rich! Oh wait, that's a real section. You should volunteer, it's awesome. You can either sort textually by running a keyword search ("outdoor", "expandable baton training"), or just go straight to the map while sorting by category and day before making a selection, which'll bring up a quick synopsis and a link to the event site, making it dead-simple to sign up, pay, and say goodbye to non-expandable baton beatings forever.
All results update in real time as they're added, and the colors on the map-plotted points change as more people sign up, i.e., an empty RSVP list produces a blue dot that, as attendance goes up, gradually turns red, just like your friends, once they find out you're refusing to do any of the aforementioned activities because you're too busy Swiffering.
