Saddle Peak Lodge
The extensive wine list at this two-story stone lodge is completely California-made, all the time. So grab a bottle, or one of their famous Bloody Marys at brunch time. For eats, opt for the hand-chopped Angus beef tartare for a Summer dinner outside, or have a dish like Chilean sea bass done with a miso-sake glaze in spiced duck broth inside by the fireplace.
The annual Thanksgiving feast at the Malibu Canyon mountain lodge returns this year with a four-course meal that kicks off with a pear salad and tartare of bison (don’t knock it till you try it). The main event includes roasted Mary’s free-range turkey breast and leg confit with gravy, sausage-apple stuffing, mashed yams, green beans, and cranberry sauce, followed by dessert choices that include pumpkin pie with vanilla whipped cream, mini-chocolate fudge brownies with berries and vanilla bean ice cream, or bread pudding with toffee, white chocolate chips, and vanilla bean ice cream.
Dine-in details: $125 per adult, $65 per child, 12 to 8:30 pm.
