Formerly a bodega, Arlene's became the music venue it is today back in '95, but kept the name. Located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Arlene's has long been a favorite of New Yorkers and tourists alike for its in-house karaoke bands. The joint is also worth a visit for its historical significance, since this is where indie darlings The Strokes began making their name. That's right, you can nonchalantly pout in the <em>exact</em> spot where Julian Casablancas once did!
