With dinner served past midnight, extra dirty martinis, and a cool dinner party vibe courtesy of owners Michael Beaumont Bray and Noble Harris (Kind Regards, Dingaling), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/bongosles/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Bongo’s</a> is a quintessential LES spot. Inside you’ll find a horseshoe-shaped bar and a dining room buzzing with a pre-going out crowd, and the energy continues onto the patio for streetside dining out front and a covered atrium in the back of the restaurant.

The latest venture from the team behind <a href="https://www.instagram.com/popinanyc/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Popina</a> is a cozy neighborhood restaurant where you can order top-notch steaks, a wedge salad that swaps in caramelized leeks for iceberg, and excellent wine by the glass—all without the stuffy steakhouse pretense. The bustling dining room at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/guschophouse/?hl=en" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Gus’s Chop House</a> offers areas where you can tuck into a booth for dinner with a group or have an intimate meal at a bistro table, and the dining area also spills out onto the front porch where you can enjoy the crisp fall air under an awning.

The newest venture from husband-and-wife team chef Ohm Suansilphong and Kiki Supap (Fish Cheeks), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kru.bk/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">KRU</a> highlights historic recipes that were once reserved for dinners with Thai royalty before trickling down to the general population. The sleek, minimalistic restaurant offers most of its seating indoors, but in the backyard, you’ll find a brick-laden courtyard with a handful of tables under twinkling lights.

With a focus on fare from the Isaan region of northeast Thailand, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/zaabzaabnyc/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Zaab Zaab</a> has quickly become a staple. After launching its first location in April, the restaurant now has two outposts—in Elmhurst and Williamsburg—with further expansion already in the works. Dishes like Hor Mok (pork belly steamed in a banana leaf with sticky rice flour, bai yanang juice, and lemongrass) and Koy Nuer, a dish described as Thai tartare, are on offer. At both locations, you’ll find vibrant indoor seating cushions, murals on the walls and ceiling, and a colorful, covered outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant.

From first-time restaurateur and veteran bartender Christopher Reyes and chef-partner Gerardo Alcaraz, the Mexico City-inspired eatery offers tacos, tostada, and a standout Vegan Mole, plus a killer drink menu with sips like the Citrus Fizz (their take on a Paloma) and the frozen Sangre de Mezcal that are perfect for enjoying on the restaurant’s terrace. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/aldama.bk/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Aldama</a>’s outdoor space debuted this summer with earth-tones, clay pots, and gorgeous lamps overhead that feel like a continuation of the dining room.

Located just over the river at the Graduate Hotel on Roosevelt Island, there’s no better time to take the scenic tramway (or subway) over to enjoy a meal at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/anythingatallnyc/?hl=en" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Anything At All</a>. The airy dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows is beautiful, but the 60-seat outdoor patio steals the show with epic views of the East River and Manhattan. Chef Megan Brown (Red Rooster) is narrowly focused on sourcing local ingredients for a fresh menu that rotates with the seasons, and on the drinks side you’ll find seasonal spritzes perfect for enjoying al fresco.

This <a href="https://www.thrillist.com/eat/new-york/chef-gaurav-anand-opens-baazi-restaurant-nyc" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">contemporary Indian restaurant</a> has captivated the Upper West Side. Chef and owner Gaurav Anand offers a menu that goes way beyond familiar dishes like gulab jamun and samosas in favor of options like Chicken Cafreal and Trout Recheado, both Goan specialties with Portuguese influences. Sample the creative menu on the 24-seat patio, where the eatery’s vibrant blue interior carries over into the streetery.

This neighborhood favorite bar is known for top-notch cocktails and delicious bar bites like Fried Pickles and Buffalo Brussels Sprouts that are perfect for sharing. But the main draw is the sprawling patio which makes <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thebonniebar/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">The Bonnie</a> a go-to spot for outdoor sipping in Astoria. The backyard is equipped with picnic tables, twinkling lights, and some overhead coverage to keep you comfortable through happy hour and beyond.

After spending years at the helm of Bar Primi, chef Salvatore Lamboglia’s first solo venture is a neighborhood Italian joint through and through with a relaxed backyard to match. Venture through the narrow interior past guests feasting on fresh pasta and arancini, and you’ll find that most of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/cafespaghetti/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Cafe Spaghetti</a>’s seating is in the picturesque backyard. About a dozen tables outfitted with yellow and red umbrellas sit on a pebble-covered patio, making the space feel like a neighbor’s backyard in the best way.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/forsythia_nyc/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Forsythia</a>’s sprawling outdoor dining structure looks just like an extension of its dining room, making it the perfect spot to enjoy handmade pasta and other Roman-style dishes any time of year. The warm yellow space has windows that can be buttoned up for inclement weather, plus the restaurant adds heating units as the season progresses and the weather cools down.

From Mercer Street Hospitality group, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/hancockstreet/?hl=en" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Hancock Street</a> offers a garden oasis in the middle of Greenwich Village. The bistro’s veranda features twinkling lights, flowers, and trees stretching overhead to create a canopy-like feel, and its serene environment offers the ideal setting for enjoying handmade pasta specials and sipping wine. Visit on a weekend afternoon from 3 pm to 5 pm and take advantage of happy hour, where wine flights come with complimentary snacks.

Practically made for street-side hangs, this laid-back neighborhood spot has a menu that changes daily and a hearty wine list with plenty of bottles to sip and share. Outside of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/king.newyork/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">King</a>’s corner location at King Street and Sixth Avenue, diners can enjoy seating that brings the dining room ambiance outdoors with plants, white tablecloths, and flickering candles.

Philadelphia’s famed restaurateur, Mike Solomonov, <a href="https://www.thrillist.com/eat/new-york/laser-wolf-restaurant-williamsburg-first-look" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">brought</a> one of his most popular concepts to town just in time for summer, but it makes an ideal destination any time of year. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/laserwolf_bk/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Laser Wolf</a> is designed to mimic a laid-back Israeli skewer house, so protein skewers and other wood-fired main courses come along with a table-covering selection of salatim (dips, salads, pickles, and other side dishes). Located high atop the Hoxton Hotel, the restaurant is entirely open-air and the views of Manhattan—especially at sunset—provide a stunning backdrop.

Laser Wolf

Chef Ignacio Mattos, known for <a href="https://www.estelanyc.com/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">estela</a> and <a href="https://www.altroparadiso.com/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Altro Paradiso</a>, designed <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lodinyc/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Lodi</a> as an ode to Italian aperitivo culture. So this all-day cafe, bakery, and bar is the perfect spot for leisurely eating spreads of antipasti, meats, and cheeses. To stay in line with its European influences, most of the seating is on the sidewalk overlooking iconic Rockefeller Center sights or in the covered terrace area just outside the restaurant.

This long-time lauded restaurant in Nolita has a hidden back garden that’s not only beautiful—it’s also extremely functional. Several tables in the garden area surround large planters of lemon balm, nasturtium, basil, and other ingredients that chef Mary Attea and the bar team pull from for dishes and drinks on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/musketroom/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">The Musket Room</a>’s globally inspired menu.

While the Gowanus location remains a perfect place to waste away an afternoon, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/pigbeachnyc/?hl=en" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Pig Beach</a>’s newer 28,000-square-foot Queens outpost offers plenty of real estate to get together with a group. Aside from the three bars, space for up to 800 people, and massive backyard beer garden, Matt Abdoo and Shane McBride’s lauded barbecue fare is on offer so you can get a quick Pulled Pork Sandwich or feast on an entire spread with all the fixings.

This Ridgewood spot quickly became a neighborhood staple after debuting last year. Many of the wood-fired dishes like Grilled Branzino, Two-Sheet Lasagna Verde, and the spot’s signature Polenta Bread are comfort food at its finest, making it an ideal destination as we welcome the cozy fall months. The expansive outdoor space at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/rolosnyc/" rel=" noopener" target="_blank">Rolo’s</a> can accommodate up to 38 guests and features a roof overhead, simple picnic tables, string lights, and heaters keeping each table warm.
