Helmed by a gelato-craving couple who met in the Amazon jungle, naturally, Dolcezza uses ingredients hand-picked at local farms to create 20 rotating flavors. The coffee program is not to be ignored either. It sources beans from Stumptown Coffee Roasters, and offers a full roster of espresso drinks and single-origin drip or pour-over coffee.
If you’re in no mood to make desserts for your holiday feast, head over to Dolcezza Gelato and pick up a few pints of their nostalgic holiday flavors, handcrafted using seasonal ingredients from the Mid-Atlantic region. Flavors include the “King Leo and his peppermint-palace-as-gelato” or “Chocotorta,” an iconic Argentine celebration cake distilled down to the loaded spoonful.
Violeta Edelman founded Dolcezza Gelato with her husband Robb in 2004. Since its founding, Dolcezza has grown to eight gelato and coffee shops around DC in addition to a retail gelato operation. While the pandemic has resulted in some store closures, Edelman has since pivoted to focus on the team’s wholesale/retail operation. Dolcezza can now be found in 1,500 markets in all 50 states
