Doris Metropolitan is not your typical steakhouse. Sure there’s the roster of premium cuts and 25-day dry-aged steaks, see-and-be-seen atmosphere, and bangin’ cocktail and wine list. This Israeli steakhouse—which dry-ages its succulent beef in a chandelier-lit meat locker—is a romantic’s dream, offering a sexy dining space (and crowd) with a smashing menu of steaks, Middle Eastern inspired plates, and cocktails. Go for cheese-oozing Stuffed Beetroot, chargrilled Octopus with Tzatziki and Smoked Tomato Salad, Moroccan Gulf Fish, and top-quality cuts like Prime Bone-in Ribeye and Japanese A5 Wagyu complete with little piles of seasoning so you can unleash your inner Salt Bae. Also, and this is important, this is one place where you’ll want to submit to the temptation of dessert.
It doesn’t get much more metropolitan than a platter of fine caviar and some chilled vodka (perhaps in a Cosmo), one of the signature experiences at this restaurant inspired both by the owners’ Israeli butcher shop, Doris, and their love for vacationing in Costa Rica. Other menu staples include dry-aged cuts of beef, lamb, and Moroccan-style fish from the Gulf of Mexico, all served in a chic dining room in the heart of Houston’s eclectic Montrose neighborhood.
As a holiday gift to us all, the Israeli steakhouse is keeping its dining room open (and chandelier-adorned meat locker) on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; and its Butcher Shop is open for premium cuts and takeout packages for those who prefer to stay in. Dine on tzatziki-kissed octopus, Moroccan tomato salad, dry-aged Porterhouse, and truffle frites.
