A rare dive with a kitchen, Speak Easy Cocktail on Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica offers down-home pub fare like grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, wings, veggie chili, and even Cajun meatloaf sliders. But the food isn’t the draw (surprise!), Speak Easy has been a neighborhood watering hole since the 70s, where regulars and bartenders are still on a first name basis, the pool tables are well kept, and the pints of beer come cheap. You’re here because Speak Easy is not actually speakeasy, and because you cherish nothing more than a night at a dark and dingy dive.
